Official Contest Rules

Prize:

One winner will receive a $500 gift card.  Five runner ups will each receive a $100 gift card.

Contest Dates:

Contest opens 09:00AM PST June 21, 2011.
Submission deadline is 09:00AM PST August 9, 2011. Great News!  The submission deadline is extended until 09:00AM PST August 19, 2011.
A panel of qualified judges will score all videos from August 9-30, 2011 based on the following criteria: educational 25 points, inspirational 25 points, original 25 points.
Concurrently, the general public will also vote online right here on this site for their favorite video from 09:00 AM June 21, 2011 through 09:00 AM August 30, 2011.
The winning videos will be the videos that have the highest combination of both judges’ scores (which counts for 75% of the final score) and public votes (which counts for 25% of the final score).
The winning videos will be announced on this site on August 31, 2011.

Entrant Eligibility:

Contest is open to anyone who is 18 years of age or older, or with parental consent as indicated below, as of date of entry.
By participating, entrants agree to these Official Rules.
Limit one entry per person.

How to Enter:

Make your video!  Tell us why you will have a soda free summer.
When making your video, remember that all video submissions must meet the following requirements: 

  • Videos must be a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes in length.
  • Videos can be any style: fiction or documentary; animated, or live.
  • Videos must have English subtitles if not in English.
  • Videos can include only people who have expressly authorized the entrant to display their image, likeness, or voice in the video.
  • Videos must follow YouTube Community Guidelines and Copyright Tips.  Any video that violates the Guidelines or Copyright laws will be disqualified from the contest.
  • Videos must be entirely original to the entrant and must not include mention or performance of any copyrighted media product, including but not limited to music, films, books, television programming, etc. 
  • Videos must not have been previously submitted to another contest, broadcast on a media network, or submitted to any entertainment entity that would conflict with this contest.
  • Videos must not include third party trademarks, logos, insignia, location signage, photographs, artwork, or sculpture, except for those original to the entrant or those belonging to the Sponsor.

Create a YouTube account if you don’t already have one.  Follow instructions to upload your video directly to the YouTube website.  Submit your video here. We will need the video URL.

Video submissions become the property of the Soda Free Summer campaign.
Contest Sponsor reserves the right and discretion to determine whether or not a submission violates Contest Rules and can disqualify a submission.  Your video will be reviewed by Sponsor before being posted for the public voting aspect of the contest.  Expect 2-3 business days after submission to get notification via Email.
Winners will be requested to submit official documentation of name and date of birth, along with parental consent if under the age of 18.  In the event that such documentation is not provided, winning status will be revoked.
